Yes it is a happy day for vets

Great news for many as the VA laptop computer has been found. Yes, the missing laptop and hard drive that contained veterans’ personal information has been found. To date there also has not been any report of identity theft concerning those whose confidential data was on the computer.

The announcement was made at the beginning of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee hearing on Thursday the 28th of June.

The information was confirmed by the deputy attorney general. The statement that the law enforcement has in their possession the laptop and hard drive is a relief to millions of veterans.

Forensic tests on the laptop and hard drive were being done. At this time it is not fully known if the data on the equipment had been copied; however the forensic tests did show that the sensitive files were not accessed.

There wasn’t any comment on how the equipment was recovered or where it had been during the past two months. The equipment was found in the area of the loss on Wednesday. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
