State governments are having a huge reserve of unclaimed public money, despite the efforts to bolster its economy in this era of one of the largest economic slump. Most of the states have expressed their conerns with this influx of unclaimed funds into their treasuries. The ratio of incoming funds to the funds which are being claimed is still very high. Millions of dollars of unaccounted money is held in state treasuries with no possible outlet in sight.

At the moment, more than $40 billion dollars of unclaimed money and assets are waiting to be returned to their rightful owners. Statistically, more than 30 million American are missing out on their hard earned money which is still lying with the state treasuries.

Millionaires Are Made In Chicago From an Unclaimed Lottery Ticket

A Chicago local recently hit the jackpot with an unclaimed lottery ticket. A Chicago man, Irvin Przyborski, 61, a retired truck driver, came across an old lottery ticket worth $9 million, when looking through his tax records. Going through his tax documents, WBBM radio reports, Przyborski came across an old Illinois Lottery ticket from March of 2010. He had bought a number of tickets around that time, and went through most of them, finding no winners. One of them had apparently fallen into his tax file inadvertently. After he unearthed the missing numbers, he took them to his local corner store, only to discover that he was suddenly a millionaire.

Good Morning America Announces Unclaimed Child Support Money Available

Unclaimed money comes from many sources, and unclaimed child support is just the latest little pot of gold we’ve discovered at “Good Morning America” in our quest to “Show You the Money.”

Actually, unclaimed child support may be a big pot.

It’s hard to quantify because unclaimed child support is managed at the state level in some places and at the county level in others, but, by some accounts, there may be as much as $750 million out there, waiting for American children.

Tami Schwarz of Ohio got more than $31,821 in uncollected child support from her ex-husband.
